Nikolaos Tsilimparis, MD

Prof. Dr. Nikolaos Tsilimparis serves as the Head of the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Ludwigs Maximilian University Hospital in Munich, Germany. Born in Greece in 1979, he commenced his medical journey at the University of Thessaloniki Medical School.

Pursuing further excellence, Dr. Tsilimparis transitioned to Germany for his postgraduate studies. There, he accomplished his thesis at the University of Berlin and earned his German Board of General Surgery degree. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the United States, where he completed a prestigious fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Upon returning to Germany, Dr. Tsilimparis achieved several commendable milestones:

- He secured his PhD from the University of Hamburg.

- He obtained the Certification of the German Board of Vascular Surgery.

- He was inducted as a fellow of both the European Board of Vascular Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.

His clinical specialization lies in the intricate domain of endovascular aortic surgery, particularly in fenestrated and branched endografts ranging from the aortic arch to the iliacs. Additionally, he is proficient in open aortic repair and surgery of the supra-aortic vessels.

On the research front, Prof. Tsilimparis is deeply invested in:

- Clinical assessment of novel endovascular techniques.

- Participation in the Global Burden of Disease consortium.

- Vascular-focused scrutiny of both national and international databases.

With a significant contribution to academic literature, he has authored over 170 scientific papers and book chapters. Currently, he spearheads the Vascular Surgery Clinical Research Program at the University of Munich, reflecting his dedication to advancing the field of vascular surgery.
