Joseph Kletzer, MD

Joseph Kletzer graduated as a medical doctor from Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria, where he completed a research semester at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Since 2024, he has been a cardiovascular resident at the University Hospital of Freiburg.

Since 2025, Joseph is part of the Berta-Ottenstein clinician scientist program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). This competitive program enables him to dedicate time to his passion for research alongside his clinical duties, fostering innovation and advancing knowledge in cardiovascular medicine.

Currently, Joseph Kletzer is a second-year resident in cardiac and vascular surgery at the Heart Center Freiburg. His clinical and research interests focus on aortic disease, perioperative outcomes, and the application of machine learning in cardiac surgery. He is actively involved in international collaborations to advance patient-specific risk prediction and surgical techniques.
