Daniela Branzan, MD
Dr. Daniela Branzan is a Full Professor of Vascular Surgery at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, and has served as Director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at TUM University Hospital Rechts der Isar since April 2024. She leads a high‑volume tertiary referral center with a strong focus on advanced vascular and endovascular therapies, innovation, and multidisciplinary care.
Originally from Romania, Dr. Branzan completed her vascular surgery training at the University Heart Center Freiburg–Bad Krozingen in Germany. She joined the University Hospital Leipzig in 2014, where she played a key role in advancing the vascular and endovascular program prior to her appointment in Munich.
Her clinical and scientific expertise focuses on the treatment of complex aortic disease and recanalization strategies for multilevel peripheral arterial disease, particularly in patients with critical limb ischemia, with the overarching goal of limb salvage. She has served as Principal Investigator in numerous national and international clinical trials and has authored many peer‑reviewed publications in leading scientific journals.
Dr. Branzan is internationally recognized in her field and is a frequent faculty member at major vascular conferences, where she has been invited to perform and moderate live case transmissions. She has received multiple national and international awards. She serves on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (EJVES) and is an active peer reviewer for several high‑impact journals.
She is also President of the Munich Vascular Conference and a member of the Commission on Aortic Diseases of the German Society of Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (DGG), reflecting her leadership and acknowledged expertise in aortic pathology and guideline‑driven vascular care. In addition, she is an active member of the European Society of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Branzan is also the mother of a twelve‑year‑old daughter.
