AORTIC SUMMIT 2021 – NEW VENUE!

We are preparing for your participation to our Summit. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that the Aortic Summit 2021 will take place at the Kameha Grand Zurich Hotel. With this new venue, it will allow us to abide more easily by any COVID-19 restrictions that may still be in place, providing a safe environment for you. We will as well keep you updated as we continue to survey the situation and inform you of any safety measures that will be in place.

AORTIC 360

We are excited to introduce our brand new educational format, the AORTIC 360 which will be launched in 2022. This format will cater towards smaller seminars in a campus atmosphere, promoting intense academic exchange, discussions and networking.

Goal of the Aortic 360

  • Establishing interdisciplinary educational activities with a clear focus on optimizing patient care and pathway.
  • Establishing and maintaining an international academic network to promote and find ways to implement the concept of multidisciplinary team approach.
  • Ongoing international exchange and sharing of knowledge, experiences and learning from each other.
  • Improve patient outcome by encouraging multidisciplinary team approach in aortic medicine.

We offer two levels of seminars:

BASIC AORTIC SEMINAR in 2022
How to get in and out in aortic surgery → what you always wanted to know.
Target group: residents in cardiac and vascular surgery.

A combined theoretical and practical workshop of open and endovascular aortic surgery.

ADVANCED AORTIC SEMINAR in 2022
Aortic surgery in detail → what you always wanted to know.
Target group: advanced cardiac and vascular surgeons.
Friday 9 September 08:00 – Saturday 10 September 16:00 in Bern
A combined theoretical and practical workshop of advanced open and endovascular aortic surgery.

Welcome back to another edition of our newsletter. We are excited to tell you about some new initiatives we have planned. As you may have seen from our e-blasts, we have announced the Aortic Association Scientific Award, we will be accepting abstracts for this year’s Aortic Summit, and in May we will also launch a Call for Cases. I am also pleased to say that our membership base continues to grow. With members from Europe, Asia, US and Australia, we have a truly Global presence. We would also like to acknowledge the support of our new Premium Industry Members; Cardinal Health, Cryolife and Terumo Aortic. Bringing our medical community and our Industry stakeholders together on one platform is vital in order to exchange best practices and to foster a constructive and focused process for the benefit of the patient.

SCIENTIFIC AWARD

We are extremely pleased to announce the first Aortic Association Scientific Award, that is supported by Terumo Aortic. The purpose of the award is to recognize excellent scientific work in the field of aortic medicine, clinically as well as experimentally.

AORTIC SUMMIT – CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Aortic Association is proud to call for abstracts for the Aortic Summit 2021. Our focus for this year is the thoracoabdominal aorta including its branches of first order. All accepted abstracts will be available on our „Show on demand“ system throughout the entire congress. The best abstract of each category will be presented at the respective sessions during the meeting.

CALL FOR CASES

We are pleased to announce that we will launch a new initiative: Call for Cases: Case of the Month Treatment Options. The kick-off will be in May and we encourage all members of the Aortic Association to submit your best cases. Each selected case will be shown on our website. Stay tuned for more information on this activity.

There is still time to register to our 2021 webinar series. Each webinar offers an excellent program with speakers who are leaders in their field.

Each webinar is accredited with 6 CME credits!

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, we are expanding our footprint in the field of aortic disease.
The SAC will play in integral part in moving the Aortic Association forward, which will allow us to offer more education, scientific and research opportunities.

    SUPRAAORTIC ANATOMY FOR AORTIC SURGEONS

    We will be organizing a cadaver workshop planned for 18 – 19 June in Salzburg, Austria.
    The aim of this workshop is to provide aortic surgeons with an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the upper mediastinum and the neck.
    You will receive hands-on training of various supraaortic procedures required for open, hybrid and endovascular treatment of aortic arch pathologies.

    Cannot join a training in person? This will make you feel like you are. With the current restrictions due to COVID-19, and the importance of continuing education, technology plays an ever big role.
